An optimal mini garden - is kind of hard to get

2019-03-23

It has been difficult to get an optimal and well-functioning garden, in a very limited area, especially when you, like me, are a beginner, inexperienced and have never owned a plant in my life, and unfortunately, I have found it incredibly difficult to get some useful advice, especially when it comes to a balcony garden - not least if this garden is to have value especially to bumblebees and butterflies.

The Internet abounds with advice and good ideas, good and bad advice, stirred into a blurry unmanageable mass of info that is very hard to get to the bottom of and find out what to do and what not to do.

Another major problem has been to provide the necessary varieties, not least local wild varieties, especially finished plants that are safe for insects, which is not spray with pestids. After all, it takes some time from seed to finished plant and so sometimes bought finished plants are needed.

In addition, I have had a lot of considerations of annual flowers, perennial flowers and biennial flowers, annual flowers plants are easiest because you do not have to consider overwintering, which is an challenge with perennial flowers and biennial flowers, on a balcony, without any real protection against the weather, especially the frost, which can damage and destroy the roots of the plants.

It has also been challenging to get the most plants pressed into a very limited area, including getting suitable pots and balcony boxes, often in oblique scales, which can be very difficult to find and buy.

I personally like that pots and balcony boxes are in similar colors that blend in with the surroundings and match each other so that they do not stand out too much and possibly invoke complaints from neighbors, this has been incredibly difficult to get, especially when they also have to be in a lightweight material.

The hottest summer on record - in 2018, I had some problems with complaints about withered flowers, which was not entirely the case, they had become scorched by a extraordinary heat and drought all summer, with subsequent prolonged watering ban, so more or less almost all nature and gardens in the entire country was scorched, even normally hardy weeds were in trouble and the trees, with their deep roots, shed leaves earlier than normal.

Another problem was that I repeatedly could observe broken plants, plant torn up with roots, footprints in my large pots where the plants were completely destroyed, and broken plants where it looked like a large handbag or shopping bag was put in my pots to conscious destroy the plants - so all in all, 2018 in my little garden was a somewhat mixed experience.
